Sydney's leading stable has a strong team in Brisbane for the carnival but trainer Chris Waller admits he is not certain what to expect from his Doomben 10,000 runners.

Triple Group One winner Boban has not won since the Chipping Norton Stakes in the autumn of 2014 while Flamingo Star will be having his first Australian start in Saturday's Group One weight-for-age feature over 1350 metres.

Boasting a Group Three win in Germany over 2014 Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist in their two-year-old season, Flamingo Star came to Australia late last year after another two Group Three wins in Germany and France.

"Flamingo Star comes here with pretty good form from his last two starts," Waller said.

"We were going to start him off in the Scone Cup but he had too much weight.

"I think he is more of a miler and the Epsom will be an aim in the spring.

"Boban won a barrier trial recently and worked really well this morning.

"I'm hoping he can find winning form again. We know how good he is when he is right."

Boban and Flamingo Star are at $21 and $31 respectively with Our Boy Malachi the TAB's $5 favourite over Srikandi ($6) and Generalife and Knoydart at $8.

Our Boy Malachi finished third, a length behind the winner Hot Snitzel in the BTC Cup (1200m) at his first Group One start with Godolphin's Knoydart splitting the pair.

The former Waller-trained Sacred Star has found his niche in New Zealand where he has won his past two starts at Group One level for Tony Pike and Raffles Racing.

He missed the BTC Cup with a stone bruise and almost missed his Doomben 10,000 chance.

An oversight at nomination time means connections will pay a $22,500 late entry fee to put him in Saturday's race.

Srikandi finished eighth in the BTC Cup after a slow start but trainer Ciaron Maher is confident she can bounce back to the form which won her the Victory Stakes last month.

With the inclusion of Sacred Star, there are 23 horses vying for positions in the 10,000 which has a field limit of 16.
