A midweek treble has boosted Blake Shinn's quest for the Sydney jockeys' premiership.
The title is coming down to a three-way tussle between Shinn, Hugh Bowman and James McDonald who will return from a stint in England to ride at the last five meetings of the season.
Shinn's three winners at Warwick Farm on Wednesday took him to 84-1/2 winners, half a win ahead of Bowman.
Reigning premier jockey McDonald is still in front on 88-1/2 and is expected to return to Sydney for the Warwick Farm meeting on July 15.
Bowman has won two Sydney championships in 2008/09 and 2011/12 while Shinn took the title in 2007/08.
The Melbourne championship is also up for grabs with Craig Williams, Dwayne Dunn and Damien Oliver fighting it out.
Williams is on 50 but will not ride at Caulfield on Saturday because of suspension.
Dunn failed to ride a winner at Ballarat on Wednesday to stay on 49 while Oliver (48) missed the midweek meeting because of illness.
