Victorian apprentice Jake Bayliss has been suspended after racking up his 15th breach of the whip rules this season.
Bayliss was outed for striking Black Tomahawk, runner-up in Saturday's Briseis Handicap at Flemington, 10 times in a forehand manner before the 100m mark, five times more than the rules permit.
Earlier in the day Bayliss was fined $500 for being two strikes over the limit on Our Nkwazi, third in the VRC Recognition Handicap.
Bayliss said he was not proud of his record and said riding at Flemington made it worse because of the long straight.
Chief steward Terry Bailey warned Bayliss a repetition of his continued excessive use of the whip would lead to more suspensions in the future.
