2YO trial winner to carry Guy metro hopes

Friday 20 November 2015, 1:06pm

Trainer Bryan Guy is hoping for his first metropolitan success from his new rural training centre with impressive two-year-old trial winner Game Of Dreams.

Game Of Dreams will be ridden by in-form Michael Cahill when he makes his debut in the AM Giles and Co Handicap at Doomben on Saturday.

Guy moved from his base of the past two decades at the Gold Coast to take up a position as head trainer for Aquis Farm at Canungra.

He is also able to train horses for outside owners and has had 11 winners this season from a limited number of runners.

"Things are starting to take shape at Aquis Farm. We've only had a few city runners since the move here in October but things will step up soon," Guy said.

"It is a matter of working out new regimes for horses who seem to thrive in the rural environment."

He had three winners at the recent Gold Coast barrier trials including Game Of Dreams.

"Game Of Dreams jumped from the outside barrier, went straight on the bit and won like a nice horse having something in hand and a three-length margin on second," Guy said."

"You don't know with early season two-year-olds but I would hope he will be in the finish."

Game Of Dreams cost $35,000 at the Magic Millions yearling sales and Guy is hoping he might measure up to the Magic Millions Classic on January 9.

The gelding is owned by the Hill family who have had plenty of success with Guy, including the stakes winning filly Stroak.

"Stroak ran fifth to Unencumbered in the Magic Millions when everyone agreed she had no luck at all. It would be nice to get one back for them this season," Guy said.
