Rivals when they last raced at Rosehill, Chris Waller-trained stablemates Telepathic and Vilanova will head to different stakes races at Randwick.
Telepathic, winner of the Listed ATC Cup on November 28 will come back from 2000 metres to 1600 in Sydney's summer showpiece, the Group Two Villiers Stakes on Saturday.
Vilanova, who finished third at Rosehill, will step up to 2400 metres for the first time since his third in the 2014 Queensland Derby when he runs in the Christmas Cup.
"Telepathic will appreciate coming back to the mile," Waller said.
"I think she only just gets 2000 metres even though she won well last time.
"I'm Imposing will also run in the Villiers. He's getting on now but he ran second in the race last year."
Waller will have three runners in the Christmas Cup with Instrumentalist and Quick Strike to join Vilanova.
Instrumentalist ran last of seven in the ATC Cup while Quick Strike's past three starts have produced a win and two minor placings in benchmark races.
"Vilanova is going really well and he did run third in a Queensland Derby so I have no concerns about the distance," Waller said.
Vilanova and Telepathic were also rivals in that Derby with the mare finishing midfield.
Formerly trained in New Zealand by Donna Logan, Telepathic was transferred to Waller late last year when her owner Gerry Harvey decided he wanted her to race in Australia.
Waller will miss Villiers day as he will be in Hong Kong where Preferment runs in the International Vase (2400m) in Hong Kong on Sunday.
"The reports are he has travelled over well," he said.
"I will go there on Thursday and I'm looking forward to what he can do."
The winner of the 2014 Victoria Derby and this year's Turnbull Stakes, Preferment was one of the runners hampered in last month's Melbourne Cup and finished well down the order.
"He came out of the race well which is why we decided to give him a chance in Hong Kong," Waller said.
