Sold For Song to bypass Tatt's Tiara

Sunday 12 June 2016, 5:09pm

Trainer Kevin Kemp will resist the temptation to run Sold For Song against older mares and round out her winter campaign against her own age group.

The filly defied the pattern at Eagle Farm on Saturday to come from last to run third in the Group Two Queensland Guineas (1600m).

Kemp said she would miss the Group One Tatt's Tiara at Eagle Farm on June 25 and instead run in the Listed Daybreak Lover for three-year-olds on the same day.

The Daybreak Lover was Sold For Song's original mission but was among the races washed out on June 4 and has been added to the Tiara program.

"It was ironic that we drew barrier one for the washed out race and then the outside for the Guineas," Kemp said.

"The wash-out really cost us because we were planning to see how she would go when ridden closer to the pace.

"I thought about the Tiara but she is only a three-year-old and there will be some very experienced mares in the field."

Kemp said he would sit down with connections in the next few days and looks at the spring carnival programs for Sydney and Melbourne.

"A few people have said to me they would love to see her down the straight six (1200m) at Flemington," he said.

"But we have a few other options now we know she can run a strong 1600 metres."

Trainer Chris Waller will leave a decision on a Tiara start for Guineas winner Tsaritsa until later in the week.
