Feltre lands plunge in Eagle Farm Listed

Saturday 25 June 2016, 1:16pm

Owner Bill Andrews expected to be in Perth watching his horse in a stakes race, but instead he was at Eagle Farm to see another of his runners land a betting plunge.

After being backed from $17 to $10, the Andrews-owned Feltre burst through in the final 200m to beat Teronado ($26) by 1-3/4 lengths in the Listed AM Giles and Co Accountants Handicap.

Andrews also owns Scales Of Justice who was among the favourites for the Belmont Guineas in Perth on Saturday.

"I was booked to fly over this morning but Scales Of Justice pulled a shoe and was scratched. So I stayed here to watch Feltre which proved the right thing to do," Andrews said.

Feltre was originally trained by Lyn Tipper at a rural training complex but was switched to Eagle Farm trainer Brian Smith for his current campaign.

"Feltre seemed to be doing too well in a rural environment and we decided to try him at a city training centre," Andrews said.

Smith has a big opinion of Feltre who he had also entered for the Group Three Tattersall's Cup on Saturday.

"Feltre had been working well but I decided he was better suited at the 1800 metres at the moment," Smith said.

"I have no doubt he will get further as this campaign goes on," Smith said.
